To feel the overflowing history of the area with its rich cultural heritage, tangible and intangible ones, join us for this well-paired tour of sightseeing and tasting traditional specialty. Starting the guided tour through admiring massive complex of Diocletian Palace, you are about to find out the fact why this UNESCO heritage site is significant. It represents one of the strongest pieces of evidence for which Split is considered as one of the most beautiful cities of the Mediterranean coast. At the very heart of the palace is Peristyle square, a place where Emperor Diocletian once addressed the public. Walls for themselves are whispering legends of the past, which your guide will reveal to you. To round out the story, we are taking you to experience a big part of the history, today declared as an intangible cultural heritage of Croatia. About 30 minutes away from the Split, there is a village known for its famous specialty of Soparnik. It has been the dish of the poor, and today it represents highly appreciated delicacy. For the locals, it is not difficult to prepare, but it takes a lot of experience, which is inherited over the generations. This traditional dish is made as a savory pie, with a swiss chard filling, in Croatia known as ''Blitva''. Entering the village of Gata, a local family is welcoming us to their home where this presentation will be held. As a part of a welcoming, you will taste several kinds of domestic grappas as well as anchovies, dry figs, and cherries. You will participate from the very beginning of the process, making delicious and traditional soparnik. Indigrients and the process are very simple, but this lady has done thousands of them to perfection. Feel free to engage and ask whatever you find interesting about this specialty or traditions of the area. Besides making and tasting the soparnik, we can arrange a traditional lunch as well, which this family will make it with pleasure for you. This storytelling will be for sure one of the best memories you are going to bring back home.
