Architectural treasure and secret jewel of the middle Dalmatian coastline are kept in Šibenik town - unique medieval stone beauty. Still not so exposed and too crowded but it is inescapable stop while passing along the coast on a way to Split or Zadar. Today, this charming stone beauty boasts as the first city in Croatia which has two UNESCO World Heritage sites. Inside the old town, walls are begging you to reveal its old secrets from long ago. With this fortress tour, you will be able to experience most of the highlights which this city has to offer from the heights. Leaving the vibrant cities of Split and Trogir behind, you will pass through the Dalmatian hinterland villages until we get to the first fortress Barone. This fortress represented part of the town’s defense system over the centuries. Nowadays, it is a recognizable and unique heritage value of Šibenik. Listen to exciting stories from 370 years ago when the war was going on between the Republic of Venice and the Ottoman Empire. Using the audio guide and tablet by displaying the features of a vital historical event will illustrate the stories much better. Before the construction of Barone fortress, the Venetian city of Šibenik was protected by the city walls, and the St. Michael's Fortress. Today this fortress is revitalized and represents a place for urban development. Enjoy the beautiful view of the numerous islands of Šibenik archipelago, and the old town. As the last part of the fortress tour, you will visit St. Nicholas situated in the Channel-port, a protected natural area. St. Nicholas fortress is an astounding jewel, described as one of the most elegant structures of the Adriatic. In favor of this claim, UNESCO gave one of the strongest pieces of evidence and listed it on the World Heritage list. Before we head back, enjoy the sunset and view in one of the oldest Croatian towns.
